How to play
The goal in this game is to find all the pairs to clear the tableau.
All the cards are facing down and you can turn up only two cards at a time. If they are a pair, they are automatically removed from the game. If not, they will be flipped down again. Keep turning them until you find all the pairs.
1+ players
This online memory game is designed for one player, but more can play.
When more are playing, each takes a turn picking two cards. If it is a match, the player can choose two more cards. They only lose their turn when the cards they pick are not pairs. The player who finds more pairs wins.
Tips to win at Memory Game
Create a story
Memory Game is also a matching game as you need to match the cards with their pairs. Therefore, you want to remember the position of each card you turn otherwise you will be turning the cards endlessly hoping for good luck.
To remember the position of a card, try to create a story or a mnemonic device. For example, if you see a ball in the first row, second column, you can think something like “He threw the ball first, but only scored two points”. A brush on the left bottom corner could be “He finished the painting and laid down the brush”.
The more information you have the more complex the stories you can create. For instance, you may try to flip all the cards in one single row to create longer sentences: “The basketball player (Ball) lost his wallet (Wallet) by the mill (Windmill) so he phoned a friend (Phone) because he could take the bus (Bus) to school (Pencil and Brush).”
Change seats
If you are playing several memory games in a row, the stories you create and the position of the cards will start to blur together, making it harder to find any pairs. A good tip is to change your seat or the angle you are facing the cards.
Avoid turning new cards when playing against somebody
The more information you have, that is, the more cards are revealed, the easier it is to form the pairs.
When playing against an opponent, beware of giving them any advantage. If you flip an unknown card and cannot make a match, pick a previously revealed one for your second. That way the next player will know as much as you do, instead of knowing one extra card for their turn.
